Application of indium tin oxide (ITO)

1.ITO transparent conductive film

The mass fraction of In2O3 and SnO2 in ITO is 90%~95% and 10%~5% respectively. It is an n-type semiconductor ceramic film with an electron density of N≈1021cm-3 and mobility of 15~450cm2 v-1 s. -1, the resistivity is 7×10-5 ~ 10-4 Ω · cm, the transmittance of visible light is more than 70%, the microwave attenuation rate is not less than 85%, the electrical conductivity and processing property are good, and the film layer is both wear-resistant and chemical resistant. Corrosion is the largest consumption of indium, accounting for more than 70% of total consumption.

The main uses of ITO film are summarized in the following four aspects:

1) For flat panel displays. Since ITO film is both conductive and transparent and has good etchability, ITO conductive glass is widely used as a flat panel display. Liquid crystal display (LCD) technology is currently the most successful flat display technology, compared with previous picture tubes (CRT). It has the advantages of being thin and light, low power consumption, low radiation, and no flicker. It has grown rapidly in recent years and is widely used in desktop PC monitors, TVs, notebooks and mobile screens.

2) For solar cells. When the ITO film is used as the top oxide layer of a heterojunction (SIS) solar cell, the solar cell can produce a conversion efficiency of 13% to 16%.

3) For heat mirroring. The selectivity of the ITO film to light waves (ie, visible light and infrared light) makes it widely used in heat mirrors, allowing windows in windows or solar collectors in cold environments to keep heat in a closed space. It acts as a heat shield. ITO transparent glass is a typical example of heat mirrors used to make large-scale architectural façade glass in cold regions. This façade glass can significantly reduce the energy consumption of tall buildings.

4) For surface heating. The ITO film is both conductive and transparent and is a typical transparent surface heater. The transparent surface heater can be used for glass, display windows, skating glasses, etc. of automobiles, trains, electric cars, space crafts, etc., has been anti-fog and frostproof, and can also be used as a heating element for heating plates.

2. Nano ITO powder

Synthetic nano-sized ITO powder can not only improve the sintering performance of the target, but also provide raw materials for high-performance targets, and can be made into an electronic slurry and sprayed on the cathode ray tube to act as an effective electromagnetic interference isolation screen. ITO nanopowder can also be made into stealth materials, achieving the integration of visible light, infrared and microwave, and has attracted people's attention.
