Indium was discovered in 1863. The resources of indium are sparsely dispersed. There are almost no separate ore bodies with industrial exploitation value in nature. The abundance in the earth's crust is 0.1×10. -6, although close to silver, but because of the difficulty of extraction technology, high cost, production has been low, less than 1% of silver production. According to the 1999 survey conducted by the US Geological Survey, the world's indium reserves (in zinc deposits) other than China are 4,700 tons, while China's indium, which is only symbiotic with lead-zinc deposits, exceeds 10,000 tons, ranking first in the world. The National Reserve Committee's statistical report on rare metal reserves shows that China's proven indium resources are mainly concentrated in Guangxi, Yunnan and Qinghai in the western region. The reserves of these three provinces account for about 80% of the country's total, of which the national reserves are the first in the country. The polymetallic ore in the Dandachang mining area has high indium content and large reserves. It is a rare and extra-rich indium deposit in the world, and is known as “Indium” in the world. The remaining provinces of Guangdong, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Shaanxi, Gansu, etc. have distribution.
